Huawei shipped 142.0 million smartphones in 2019, an increase of 37.2 million from 104.8 million the previous year. At the same time, the market share climbed to 38.5% from 26.5% in 2018, more than double that of OPPO, which ranked second.
Besides Huawei, the second to fifth places in the domestic smartphone market are OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Apple. The big five smartphone makers account for 91.3% of the market, while other smartphone brands are extremely compressed.
Overall, China shipped 369 million smartphones in 2019, down 7 per cent from last year. With the exception of Huawei, the five major manufacturers have declined to varying degrees. Xiaomi and Apple fell by more than 21%.
