Google has completed version 10 of Android Go edition. This will allow even more first-time users to be accessed and equipped with a secure smartphone. Android in the Go edition is an operating system for smartphones with 1.5 gigabytes of memory and less and was launched a year ago by Google. Version 10 is designed to make the system faster and more secure.

Android 10 Go Edition is faster and safer

For example, Google wants to have made optimizations that will ensure that apps launch around 10 percent faster than under the previous version. In addition, with version 10 of the Go edition, customers receive an encryption technology called Adiantum, which should enable every beginner smartphone to encrypt data without neglecting performance.

Adiantum does not require any special hardware but works with every device that is able to run the Go edition otherwise, the manufacturer states in the official keyword blog.

Google also provides important apps in Go versions

Corresponding to the Android Go edition, Google delivers some of its core apps as Go versions. Users of Google Go can have texts read aloud to them, which also works with Lens when the camera is directed at texts such as signs. Lens also offers a translation function here.

Youtube Go specializes in playing videos over narrowband network connections. Here Google wants to have optimized the bandwidth consumption so that it should come to fewer delays with the video playback.

Gallery Go by Google Photos is a slimmed-down version of the photo app that can work without a network connection and automatically sorts photos according to objects and people. For this, it uses Ki functions on the device.

Go-Apps can be built by any developer

Also, other popular apps like Uber, Facebook Messenger, Twitter or Spotify are now Go-suitable. On the Developer page, specially set up for the entry-level smartphone market, the manufacturer explains how developers can make their apps suitable for weaker smartphones.

Typically, these are devices that are used in emerging markets, which is why Google called the developer program "Build for Billions".

Android Go Edition spreads rapidly

According to Google, more than 1,600 smartphone models with Android Go have reached more than 180 markets worldwide in the last 18 months. These devices already account for more than 80 percent of the activation of entry-level smartphones. In some markets, Android devices can now be purchased starting at $27. The performance spectrum has broadened. Go models are now also available with HD displays, 4 or 16-gigabyte memory, as well as 3G and 4G support.
