iOS 13.1 and iPadOS were initially scheduled for September 30th, but their launch was advanced by one week by Apple. The company gave no specific reason.
However, there is one very likely reason: to fix the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and Pro Max bugs. "The home screen locks up and restarts. The Messages app gives error and puts the text field at the top of the screen. The AirDrop crashed so much that I had to reboot the device a few times to make it work again. The camera app chokes from time to time," says The Verge review.
"I would expect problems like this if Pro or Max were to use screens of different sizes than normal, but they are exactly the same as last year. I've also been using iOS 13 beta on XS and XS Max for months, and this problem has never appeared on my other test devices," explains Engadget.
iOS 13.1 will also fix a bug that allows you to see your contacts from the lock screen, without your iPhone being unlocked.
In addition, the update will activate the U1 chip on the new iPhones: you point one iPhone 11 to another and this puts you at the top of the sharing list via AirDrop.
In turn, iPadOS brings improvements to iPad multitasking, lets you access files on a USB stick, brings new gestures for text editing, and provides experimental mouse support.
TvOS 13 will arrive on Apple TV on September 30, while macOS Catalina is scheduled for October.
