The news came from Forbes author Brooke Crothers, founding member of CNET and New York Times trade journalist. Cross received a Dell spokesperson on June 20 who announced that Dell will launch XPS 15 7590 on Thursday, June 27.
Dell will introduce the long-awaited new OLED version of XPS 15. The OLED version has been introduced since the XPS 15 9570. The resolution of the OLED version remains 4K (3,840 x 2,160) and covers 100% of the DCI P3 color space. In addition, Dell will pass Dell's visual certification and promises to "provide 40x higher brightness and up to 10x blacker display than IPS panels".
OLED panels may have a longer battery life than the 4K IPS version. The former can turn off the brightness of pixels when displaying a black image, reducing power consumption compared to the IPS panel. Lower power consumption should have better battery life. In any case, this is a theoretical conclusion.
The XPS 15 7590 starts at 999 US dollars, but we expect the OLED version to sell at a higher price. The June 27 release date is also only available in certain regions and may even apply to the North American market only.
