The DJI Mavic Mini, came out with a new app called DJI Fly, a small version of the DJI GO 4 app tailored to the needs of less experienced pilots. The only officially working drone on DJI Fly is the new DJI Mavic Mini. However, the Drone DJ website did some testing and stated that it could also be used with DJI Mavic Air and DJI Spark.

For those who are curious and want to get started, they describe the complete solution and show how DJI Fly works with other drones. The Drone DJ also points out that there are possible risks.

For starters, they explain that the new app is nothing more than a simplified version of DJI GO 4 where tools for advanced users have been removed to create a more user-friendly app.

The description of the DJI Fly app in the Play Store is as follows: "The DJI Fly app was developed to make it easier for pilots to fly drones without problems (DJI FLY is currently only available for Mavic Mini) The new application allows more drones to be connected in the future.

When opened DJI Fly while connected to the Mavic Air remote. Once in the app, the drone was displayed for a second and then a message from "Device was not supported " .

Spires reports that he still forced the application on the "Unsupported device" screen to close and start immediately. This means that the app is now directly in the camera view of DJI Mavic Air. As far as he could test it, the drone flew perfectly.

But not everything is flowers. According to Spires, while flying he discovered an error on the SD card that prevented him from taking pictures (the shutter release disappeared). Also QuickShots were not activated. "Another thing not present in the app was the visual markings on the sensors back and forth," he explains.

He says that the application had version 1.0.1 during the test. Spires also points out that no tests were done with other DJI drones. Finally, the website does not recommend testing, as some bugs need to be fixed. Finally, DJI Fly officially only supports DJI Mavic Mini.
