Last month, Chinese iOS users spent nearly $8.2 million on shaking coins, accounting for 70% of Douyin's global App Store and Google Play revenues. At the same time, China is also the main driver of Douyin's global revenue growth, with year-on-year growth of 777%, well above the global average.
By contrast, U. S. users spent about $2.3 million, or 20% of global revenue, in July, up 42% from $1.7 million in July last year, but fairly flat compared with the Chinese market.
Douyin and TikTok installed nearly 54 million times worldwide for the first time in July, up 54 per cent from a year earlier (excluding third-party Android platforms in China and other countries). Of these, China added about 5.4 million new iOS users, accounting for 17 percent of the world's total, down from 6.5 million in the same period last year. The US market added 3 million new users, up 11% from 2.7 million in the same period last year.
