You might ask, how is this possible? The dump truck weighs 45 tons and has a 5-ton battery pack that can hold 700 kilowatt hours.Because it needs to climb the mountain to get lime, it returns with a full load of 110 tons, and because it weighs more than twice its weight, the truck's kinetic energy recovery system regains more energy as the truck goes down the hill than up the mountain. 

The truck, built by Kuhn Schweitz, is called Elektro Dumper:9.1 meters long, 4.2m wide and 4.2m high. The tire is 1.8 meters high and the bucket is fully lifted to more than 8.5 meters. 

CNN recently took Formula one driver Lucas DiGrassi to the Swiss cement company Ciments Vigier SA to test drive the truck. The driver said the truck had 90% electricity when it went up the hill, 80% when it reached the top of the mountain, and 88% when it returned to the starting point. So the official story is still not true. 

Kuhn Schweitz says trucks travel about 20 times a day, generating 200 kilowatt hours of remaining energy a day, or 77 megawatt hours a year. Considering that the average dump truck uses 11000 to 22000 gallons of diesel a year, the truck can reduce emissions of up to 196 metric tons of carbon dioxide a year.
