In numerous interviews with foreign media AnandTech and Android Authority, Huawei confirmed that the Mate30 series will provide unlocking features for Bootloader. It is worth noting that Huawei had previously allowed the feature to be used on all phones, but soon removed it for "security reasons" and no longer provided support.
Unlocking boot loaders make it easy to install Google Play services, so you can install Google apps on Android smartphones, which seems to solve Huawei's security problems. Huawei Richard Yu said in a statement that Bootloader unlocking could provide "more freedom" for customers.
Clearly, even without Google apps, Huawei has some lofty goals for Mate30. Huawei told Android Authority, it expects the Mate30 series to ship 20 million units, mainly in China.
It is worth noting that so far, Huawei P30 series has successfully shipped 16 million units. But even if Bootloader can be used to unlock, delivery of 20 million Huawei Mate30 devices does not seem like a daunting goal without the help of Western sales.
