Huawei P40 will be unveiled without Google services in March 2020 in Paris

During a press trip to Shenzhen, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, discussed the upcoming launch of the Huawei P40. Just like the P30 unveiled this year in Paris, its successor should also be presented in the French capital.

Huawei P40

The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be presented in the first quarter of 2020, that is now a certainty. Richard Yu has even revealed that both devices will be unveiled in Paris in March next year. As usual, the company's CEO is full of praise for the company's new flagship. In addition to traditional performance improvements and increased photo quality, Richard Yu also promises a new design. Will the device benefit from the same hyper curved edges as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro we recently tested, or is it something else?

Another smartphone deprived of Google services

The new Huawei P40 range will benefit from Android 10 and EMUI 10. However, like the Mate 30 Pro, the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will not benefit from GMS (Google Mobile Services) either. Instead, we should find the HMS (Huawei Mobile Services). Therefore, it will be necessary to do without applications such as Google Maps or Gmail, but also almost all the applications usually found on Google's Play Store, since itself will not be provided on the P40. Unless Huawei can convince more publishers by then, the company has invested $1.5 billion to get developers to make their applications HMS compatible. Finally, it is possible that Huawei may not lock the door completely: just like on the Mate 30 Pro, it is likely that a trick to install the MSGs is possible, but it will necessarily require a little elbow grease.

Finally, the CEO took care to specify that the distribution of his next P40 and P40 Pro will be done this time through traditional channels (traders, operators...). It will not be necessary this time to place an order through the Huawei site to get the new flagship, unlike what is currently happening with the Mate 40 Pro.
