It is understood that as early as March this year, during Huawei's P30 series press conference, Huawei and South Korean fashion brand Gentle Monster announced a partnership to develop the first smart glasses. The product looks like regular sunglasses and does not have an integrated camera.
Letsgodigital reported that on Aug. 14, Huawei applied for two trademarks, Huawei "AR Glass" and Huawei "VR Glass", in EUIPO (EU intellectual property Office) and IPO (intellectual property Office) in the UK. Both trademarks are classified as category 9 with instructions: smart glasses, smart watches, smartphones, 3D glasses, sunglasses and glasses.
Earlier this year, Huawei shared some details of the AR glasses it was developing, Letsgodigital said: Huawei's smart glasses will have voice assistants, built-in microphones and speakers, and will be able to make phone calls through smart glasses. Smart glasses have passed IP67 certification and have waterproof and dustproof functions. In addition, Huawei smart glasses will be equipped with 2200mAh capacity batteries.
Huawei did not disclose more information about smart AR and VR glasses, and Letsgodigital speculated that smart glasses might be displayed at IFA 2019.
