Steelseries Arctis 1 released: a gaming headset with low price

59,99 €, hybrid gaming/nomadic listening use. Many gaming device manufacturers are taking advantage of the E3 show to unveil their new products. This is the case with SteelSeries with its new Arctis 1, a gaming headset that offers the essentials under the €60 mark.

SteelSeries is once again adding to its famous Arctis range with this time an entry-level product. The Arctis 1 headset is for gamers looking for an affordable gaming companion that can also be used for mobile listening. The manufacturer therefore had to make certain choices to correspond to these two uses. The Arctis 1 more or less retains the design of the earpieces. On the other hand, the hoop is changing. The double arch with "ski goggles" headband, characteristic of the range, is transformed into a single, more conventional arch. It is adjustable and has a steel base. The manufacturer's Airweave bearings are always on board. The microphone volume and mute controls are integrated directly into the headset.

The Clearcast microphone can also be transformed for the nomadic needs of the Arctis 1, no longer retractable, but detachable. This will make the headset easier to wear and carry on the move, and make the microphone easier to replace in the event of a problem. The connection is made via a 3.5 mm 4-pin mini-jack cable for use on PS4, Xbox, Switch and PC (an extension cable with double mini-jack connector is provided with the headset). In terms of sound reproduction, SteelSeries promises an experience similar to that of other headphones in the range. We'll wait for a formal test to verify these statements.
