Us Department of Commerce issues 90-day extension permit: Huawei is exempted for the third time

According to National Public Radio on November 18, the US Department of Commerce issued an announcement on the same day, announcing a 90-day extension of the license, allowing US companies to continue to do business with China's Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. During this period. This is the third time that Huawei has been "exempted" by the United States since it was added to the "entity list" in May, Reuters said. The first two were on May 22 and August 19 of this year, both for 90 days.

In May, the US Department of Commerce added Huawei to the "entity list" to prohibit it from purchasing US products and US companies from buying its equipment and services. This has caused a lot of trouble for American rural operators who rely on low-price, high-quality ZTE and Huawei communications equipment, and it is not easy for them to switch to other suppliers with limited profitability. U.S. Commerce Secretary Ross also said in a statement that "the extension of the license will allow telecom operators to provide services in some of the most remote rural areas of the United States, otherwise these areas may be plunged into darkness."

In addition to US rural operators, US suppliers such as Intel, Micron, Saisling and Nvidia have also had to lower their sales forecasts for this year, and Broadcom predicted in the second month of the ban that the company's revenue could be reduced by $2 billion as a result. Previously, Huawei purchased $11 billion worth of parts and software from American companies. The US semiconductor industry complains that the export ban hurts US companies and is tantamount to ceding the market to competitors such as South Korea.

Liang Hua, chairman of Huawei, told CNBC at the Oriental Technology Western Conference that Huawei can deliver its products to customers without relying on American parts.
