The earbuds MIFO O5 look almost the same as most brands on the market. But there are some differences. About which we will talk in a full review.
MIFO presented its O5 model in two versions. The first one is called standard, and the second is a professional. The differences between them in the stuffing, the first has a dynamic driver inside the case, like most competitors. The second option is an armature driver.
In our test both options, so let’s find out the differences.
Impedance: 32 ohms
Driver unit: 7.2mm
Frequency response: 20-20000Hz
Bluetooth protocol: AAC
Charging Time: 1.5h
Connections: Micro USB
Weight: 106.8 grams
Dimensions: 45 x 76 x 30 mm
Music Time: 100h
Inside the box you will find in separate boxes, there are 7 pairs of ear cushions and a micro USB charging cable of a light green color.
Also in the box, there is an instruction in Chinese and English, a charging case and the headset itself.
The first thing we wanted to talk about is the size of the MIFO O5 earbuds. They really correspond to the weight of only 4.6 grams, and the dimensions are very compact. In the ears, they sit well and the earbuds themselves do not bulge, such as other competitors in the market.
The build quality at a good level. MIFO O5 is made of solid plastic. Although the case is made of plastic, it is durable and very sturdy to the touch.
The inner part has a black matte color, and the outer one has a silver shiny look. Also, the MIFO O5 has a red or blue rim on the front, to distinguish the channel. Immediately there is the inscription MIFO, the operation indicator, and the mechanical keys by adjusting the volume and switching tracks.
The work of mechanical keys more nicely, as compared with the touch ones, there is a certain effort here, so there will be no random switching in them. But there is a significant minus, they are very small. Although you can get used to them after using MIFO O5 a little.
In appearance, the difference between standard and professional models is only one thing – the mesh on the channel. In the first case, it is black, in the second – silver.
The earbuds MIFO O5 received protection against water IPX7 standard. This means that you can listen to music during rain or workouts, but you cannot use them in the pool.
Now lets talk about the MIFO O5 charging case. The weight of the case is 106.8 grams and has a very pleasant matte finish. The corners of the charging case are rounded and comfortable to hold in your hand.
The dimensions are 76 x 45 x 30 mm. Therefore, it will not be a problem to carry in your pocket, but it is still more than that of Apple AirPods. This is because of the capacious battery of 2600 mAh.
On the right side of the MIFO O5 case, there is a micro USB port for charging the case. Inside the case, there is a green indicator that says charging the earbuds.
The disadvantages of the case can be attributed to the very difficult opening of the lid of the case. It will be problematic to open with one hand since there are installed strong magnets and an interesting fastening of the cover with the case. Also, fast charging is out of the question, since the MIFO O5 received only a micro USB port.
Like any wireless headset, the MIFO O5 connects via Bluetooth. The earbuds use Bluetooth with version 5.0. The latest Bluetooth connection boasts good and stable signal quality up to 10 meters from the signal source and lower power consumption than Bluetooth 4.0, 4.1, 4.2.
At the first pairing, turn on the earbuds when the indicator flashes in blue and red – this is the pairing mode. Next, go to the Bluetooth menu of the mobile device and connect to the MIFO O5. In the future, wireless earbuds MIFO O5 have connected automatically.
Now a few words about the function keys on the MIFO O5. The right key can reduce or increase the volume. If you hold it for 2 seconds, then the next or previous track is switched.
The left key on both earbuds with a single press provides playback or pause, answer the call or hang up during a call. With 1 second hold – turn on, 5 seconds – turn off, and 3 seconds – turn on pairing mode.
Those who appreciate high sound quality and are looking for crystal clear sound with good detail, then wireless headphones will not provide you with that. The sound is usually slightly diffuse, individual tones are often not very clear. This is present in many models of wireless earbuds, even in the expensive category.
Nevertheless, it strongly depends on the genre of music and instrumentalization: although there are practically no problems with the quality of arrangements with a small number of instruments. Individual instruments, effects, and vocals are blurred in multi-track recordings.
For heavy bass electronic music, it happens that bass is too wide and drowns out other sound areas. For some tracks, the bass sounds good, for some – it has a tin shade.
Now a couple of words in the difference between the armature and the dynamic drivers. The sound in the professional version of wireless earbuds is much better and more pleasant.
Detailing and bass at low frequencies work correctly, mids do not draw a little depth, and high frequencies play at 100%. Therefore, we can conclude that the armature driver outperforms its dynamic driver.
It is also worth noting that the MIFO O5 is not supported by the Apt-x codec, but the earbuds have support for the AAC codec.
The earbuds can be used during calls. The quality of the microphone is good, but during conversations, there was a dull sound effect.
In comparison with competitors, MIFO O5 in the test has the same sound quality as Xiaomi Mi AirDots Pro or even Huawei FreeBuds. Therefore, in general, for its price, it is good in terms of ergonomics and sound quality as for wireless earbuds.
If you are not a professional music fan, and you will listen to music in everyday life, then MIFO O5 will be an excellent choice.
The earbuds have a built-in 60 mAh battery each, which should last seven hours of listening to music. During testing, the MIFO O5 at maximum volume turned out exactly 4 hours and 35 minutes. If listening to music is not at maximum volume, perhaps we would get about 7 hours.
The charging case is charged via the micro USB port and has its own 2600 mAh battery. Indeed, such a large battery capacity in the case provides up to 15 times the charge of the earbuds themselves.
The earbuds charging time is 10 minutes – 20%, 30 minutes – 60%, and up to 100% – 1 hour and 20 minutes.
For those who really want true wireless earbuds with high-quality design and build, then the MIFO O5 will be an excellent choice.
The sound quality with an armature driver is better. Also, the big battery capacity of the charging case will provide you with up to 100 hours of listening to music or watching movies.
The presence of mechanical keys on the case will allow you to control the volume, switch tracks, receive calls, without getting the phone out of your pocket.
If you are looking for practical and comfortable earbuds for everyday life, as for playing sports or listening to music on the road, then MIFO O5 will be a good choice for your price.
