Sony has sent invitations to media around the world for its event at 8:30 on Feb. 24 in MWC Barcelona, Spain. Because it didn’t show up with the latest smartphones in CES 2020, the MWC 2020 became the most-anticipating event for their fans of Xperia smartphones.
According to the latest media report, Sony will launch the Xperia flagship in MWC 2020. The Xperia flagship smartphone might be equipped with a 4400mAh high-capacity battery.
It is reported that Sony is preparing for a super flagship with 4K OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, and Snapdragon X55 modem, supporting SA and NSA for 5G connectivity.
As 5G and 4K display are power-consuming, a large battery is dispensable for the latest Sony Xperia flagship. The battery capacity of Sony Xperia flagships doesn’t stand out in the competition.
For example, Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia 1 adopt a 4K display, whereas their batteries are all under 3500mAh. The latest Xperia 5 only has a 3140mAh battery.
5G smartphones consume much more power than 4G ones because the former needs to support more frequency bands. There is no doubt that the new Sony Xperia flagship will incorporate a large battery.
Currently, the code name of the Xperia flagship is controversial. Some say it might be called Xperia 1.1. Some think it might be Xperia 1 2020. Nevertheless, the smartphone will be officially launched at the end of February in MWC 2020.
Apart from the above, Sony will also release a mid-range smartphone called Xperia 5 Plus or Xperia 3.
According to the renders published by Onleaks, the smartphone might use a 6.6-inch straight OLED screen, with an aspect ratio of 21:9 for cinematic effect, dual speakers, a triple-camera module, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone might measure 168.2mm by 71.6mm by 8.1mm, powered by Snapdragon 765 5G SoC.
