AnyCast vs. Chromecast vs. Miracast: Which is the Best Screen Mirroring Device?

Mirroring of a screen can be understood as sharing the display of any small portable device to a larger one like TV or Projector! It is an impressive technology useful both at home and in offices.

It can quickly replicate the display of a computer, laptop, phone, tablet, computer, phablet on a big display output screen. It can be done using two ways, i.e., using wired and wireless.

But we are living in a world of wireless technology and hate seeing wires as much as possible! So in this post, we will compare AnyCast vs. Chromecast vs. Miracast. They are the best among different wireless screen mirroring technologies or say devices!

What is AnyCast?

It is a Wi-Fi-based screen mirroring or say display receiver. The device works wirelessly to cast any small screen on a large display panel with Full HD resolution.

The dongle can be used to cast games, videos, movies without switching the mode of the device to mirroring. It supports more than one OS comprising iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. The device works with all the latest gadgets due to the available firmware that comes with it.

An Introduction to Chromecast

It is an internet-based screen mirroring or HDMI dongle from Google! It allows screening of not just the media but the complete browser of a laptop to a big display.

The limitations of Chromecast are it supports phones that are based on Macs, Android 4.4.2, or later OS and can be used with newer iPads or iPhones. However, it can be used to send media files that can be locally stored to Chromecast from any Apple mobile device.

An Outlook on Miracast

It is also a technology that forms a wireless connection between a Display device and smart gadgets(laptop, tablet, phone). Hence, a user can share the content available on those small portable gadgets on a big display whenever required.

The supports devices that work on a Wi-Fi connection to make a separate connection between them without using the internet. It is because the device creates its direct wireless signal between the display device and the source device of the content.

AnyCast vs. Chromecast vs. Miracast: Comparison

a) AnyCast vs. Miracast:
They look very similar in physical appearance and comes with the micro USB cable. Miracast CPU runs at 600 megahertz. AnyCast uses the same single-core processor that runs at Cortex-A9 1.2 gigahertz. MiraCast uses 128MB of RAM, but AnyCast has 256MB.

But AnyCast works on only 150mbps Wi-Fi signal as compared to 450mbps Wi-Fi signal of MiraCastAnyCast supports 1080p at 60fps as max display resolution; on the other side, MiraCast only supports 1080p at 30fps!

In the case of MiraCast, It is based on a Wi-Fi technology as a standard set by the Wi-Fi alliance. So, it uses Wi-Fi Direct to allow two compatible devices to connect using Wi-Fi private network without the need for a Wi-Fi router. It is almost like cable-less HDMI connectivity.

Hence, you can mirror your screen of the phone on a connected TV screen and play the content together in the same instant.

The gadgets bough after 2014 do support Miracast under different names like AllShare, SmartShare, and more. But it is best to check your products site to confirm whether your TV upholds the various protocols and standards.

b) AnyCast vs. Chromecast:

They both need a power supply of 5V/1A (or ready to experience a glitch in their performance if underpowered) and upgrade the firmware. Do not overpower if you do not hate one!

There is a 512MB RAM in Chromecast that is twice as of AnyCast, but on the other side, Chromecast has dual ARM Cortex-A7 based on 1.2GHz processor. In the case of AnyCast, it does not have any antenna inside; instead, it uses an external antenna placed on a Wi-Fi card.

Also, in Chromecast, It comes with unique rounded hardware with a reset button on it. The device comes in three colors and with a glossy appearance.

The HDMI port has been provided with a flex wire to give a nice extension. So, it can offer added convenience to plug the device on a TV that is attached to a wall and has the HDMI port at the back!

It can be attached to the device based on the magnetic field. The newer version, i.e., Chromecast 2, uses three adaptive antennas to give smooth streaming. It needs a dual-band Wi-Fi network to provide optimal performance at a speed of 802.11ac.

One can connect it to various high-end Wi-Fi routers without much hassle. Do you have an outdated or less featured smartphone? If yes, then check its compatibility with the Wi-Fi configuration of Chromecast before buying one.

c) Chromecast vs. Miracast:

Many laptops can be used as a receiver of multimedia signals from smartphones and are capable of mirroring the screen of such phones. But, in Chromecast, it only works like a dongle-plugged receiver for the TV.

Miracast does not need the internet to work; however, Chromecast cannot work offline.

Hence, using MiraCast without any possibility of lag, one can cast a screen and watch the contents of the hard drive. It is all possible even if the internet connection in your home is good or not.

On the other hand, MiraCast cannot be used to convert your standard TV into a smart one.

Not only consumes the battery of a phone but also limits a user not to do any other task on their smartphones. But Chromecast is a media play that can be used to stream the videos or OTT services from your phone to TV.

Unfortunately, Apple does not allow Miracast in any of their devices. After all, they have their standard for a similar purpose named as AirPlay. But a Chromecast can do support to mirror your iPhone screen to a smart TV.

Thus, summing up all, in case a TV is not supportable to MiraCast, then it is best to get a MiraCast dongle such as Chromecast.

Or best one can try AnyCast that supports Airplay standard, so not just android, but a user can also mirror the apple screens on the TV. MiraCast is best for doing presentations and who do not depend on the internet to enjoy multimedia content.

AnyCast - One can use it with iOS and Android phones and tablets, also Windows-based gadgets.

Chromecast - It can be used with Windows, Mac-based tablets and laptops, Android, and iOS (6 or higher) based smartphones and tablets.

MiraCast - It works with only Android-based smartphones and tablets.

Hence, for compatibility, if you are an android user, then you can choose from any one of above all. But for other options, only one or two options are left for you to move ahead!

AnyCast: The dongle has to be connected with Wi-Fi cable using micro USB cable, now plug it to the HDMI port available on the TV. Choose the input source.

Give the power supply to the dongle using USB power cable, and it should be of 1 amp current for the best Wi-Fi connectivity.

After power on the TV or projector, you can get the AnyCast home screen. Now connect your smartphone to the AnyCast dongle by configuring it via Wi-Fi network and using a password displayed on the screen.

Not after a successful connection, you can go to the display settings and choose the screen mirroring function to enjoy!

Chromecast: Use USB cable or adapter to power it up, now connect the HDMI cable to the TV screen to mirror the content on a significant display output. It needs a Wi-Fi connection. After a successful connection, a user can see different apps with cast icons on them.

Hence, by tapping which you can screen their content on the TV or projector. There are many apps compatible with Chromecast. It includes all Google apps, different games, Hulu, Netflix, office suites, and many more.

MiraCast: First of all, both the source and the receiver should be compatible with MiraCast. By default, Android smartphones and windows based OS (later than 8.1) are compatible with MiraCast technology.

It can be checked from the display settings of the device. The dongle can be connected to the HDMI port and can be plug and play.

Further, go to the display settings from there; you can get the option to cast the screen, and similarly, you can disconnect it.

For mirroring on a laptop or computer screen, you can connect via the settings menu and select a project to connect with a wireless display device. You can choose, connect, and pair your devices.

So, for installation and settings, they all are almost similar and simple to be done by a user quicker possible!

a) AnyCast vs. MiraCast

They both do not produce instantaneous images on the screen. So playing games that need precise user inputs will not work well.

They play videos all fine, but you need to provide the right power supply to them to avoid lags. They come with HDCP, so they are not suited to stream Netflix or any other OTT platforms.

b) AnyCast vs. Chromecast

No remote controller comes with them by the manufacturers, but smartphones can be used to give commands. In Chromecast person can do multitask on their phone while media is still streaming on the device.

The incoming calls show on the mirrored screen in the case of AnyCast.

AnyCast needs the screen of the smartphone to be always kept on, but this is not the case with chrome hence saves much battery power of a smartphone. AnyCast is based on a single-band Wi-Fi network.

Thus, in case the Wi-Fi network is shared between different devices, then it produces a lag in the output display.

Chromecast is based on dual-band networks, so in case of Wi-Fi sharing, it switches to 5GHz network and can make the stream to happen smoothly. It comes with a dedicated app, but AnyCast works on different third-party apps.

c) Chromecast vs. MiraCast

The MiraCast works on a wireless HDMI connection. It can be used both as a sender and receiver other than Chromecast that only works as a receiver.

In the case of Chromecast, It comes with Google fast play option. So that while watching any series of episodes, it automatically loads the next episode till you are viewing the previous one. Thus, you can get a continuous streaming experience.

Also, the new Chromecast app is more suggestive and user-friendly, and one can search for content or browse with the help of this app on it. You can store the contents of your phone on the Chromecast using its compatible apps.

The smartphone can be used as a controller to mirror the games on the TV. But it only applies for mid-range multiplayer games that work with not so highly graphics features.

Therefore, in this section, both Chomecast and MiraCast lead to AnyCast! If you are a heavy gamer or high-end multimedia freak, then you must go with Chromecast. Miracast is suitable for quick connection and mirroring purposes.

AnyCast starts from a price of $25. However, Miracast is ranging from a minimum market cost of $20. Lastly, to buy a Chromecast, you have to spend a minimum of $35 for standards, i.e., Full HD model and $70 for the 4K resolution model!

So, if we compare the price and if you are looking for a cheap option, then better go with either Miracast or AnyCast. Otherwise, to get premium multimedia enjoyment, it is valuable to spend on Chromecast!

Conclusion & Call to Action

If you are in confusion till now, then hoping you can better decide by referring to the above comparison on AnyCast vs. Chromecast vs. Miracast. So, the best is to choose one that can fit your needs and budget!

AnyCast CPU speed and RAM is twice that of Miracast. But Miracast is available at less price. AnyCast has more options for connectivity with different OS based smartphones as compared to Miracast.

Both the AnyCast vs. Chromecast is much similar in functions and can have many capabilities to stream the multimedia content. You need to compromise with Multitasking and FastPlay on Anycast.

Miracast is made for simple use to neglect the possibility of HDMI cables for connecting the smartphones with TV.

Are you have a big battery phone and use a mirroring device only for presentations and videos? If yes, then AnyCast would be an economic deal in comparison to a Chromecast!

For substantial streaming needs like movies and shows, it is good to have a mirroring device like Chromecast. It has better Wi-Fi and processing speed, and that does not disturb your other tasks on your smartphone, or you can do multitasking.
