Chinese manufacturer Oukitel is known for its low-cost phones. The new model of this company called Oukitel C17 Pro received a large display with a diagonal of 6.35 inches, a cutout for the front camera, three camera sensors for shooting, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.

In the box

The device comes in the usual orange packaging, which says only the name of the company. Behind the packaging - there are all the technical specifications of the Oukitel C17 Pro. Together with the phone we get a protective case. The kit also has a 10 W charger with a Type-C connector, an adapter from 3.5 mm to USB Type-C and a user manual.

Design

The dimensions of the Oukitel C17 Pro are: 158x75.3x8.8 mm, with a mass of 158 grams. This is clearly not the most compact smartphone, however, holding it with one hand is convenient. The corners and edges here are a little rounded, it is comfortable to use the device - especially with two hands. Three colors are available for the case - blue, dark gray and red. It is made of plastic, although at first it seems that it is glass.

On the back cover there are three sensors for shooting and an LED flash, as well as a fingerprint scanner. The C17 Pro also has face unlock with FaceID technology, which uses a front camera for this. Both biometric protection systems perform their functions reliably, but not too quickly - this device is far from the flagships.

On the front is a large 6.35-inch display with a hole for the front camera. This is better than the cutout, which is now installed on almost half of the devices. Since almost all the space on the front side is occupied by the screen, proximity and light sensors were moved to the upper edge of the case. This is not the best option for location, but the manufacturer didn’t have much choice.

Power and volume keys are on the right. On the left is a hybrid slot for SIM cards and memory cards. You can install two nano-SIM or one nano-SIM and microSD. Below is a speaker, USB Type-C and microphone. There is no headphone jack, however, the kit includes an adapter for connecting them.

Display

In the Oukitel C17 Pro we get a 6.35-inch IPS display with HD + resolution (1560x720). It was hardly worth counting on a FullHD + screen in a device with such a price, although the resolution available here is enough for all standard tasks. In addition, the panel saves battery power.

The aspect ratio is 19.5: 9 with a pixel density of 270 ppi. The content of the screen looks great, individual pixels are invisible. Of the minuses - a very high indicator of minimum brightness can be noted, which will be especially unpleasant at night. But, at maximum brightness, it is convenient to use the device even with direct sunlight on it, and the colors remain natural and saturated.

Cameras

The claimed resolution of the main cameras of 13-MP, 5-MP and 2-MP is hardly true. Pictures with bokeh effect look unnatural, and there is no possibility to shoot in ultra wide-angle mode.

This is a common situation for budget phones from Chinese manufacturers of not very popular brands. Nevertheless, the quality of the photo from the main sensor at 13-megapixel is not bad - at least in daylight. Video recording here can be maximized in FullHD. The front 5-megapixel camera also does not surprise with the quality of the selfie.

Software

The operating system in Oukitel's C17 Pro is an almost pure version of Android 9.0. The interface is almost stock, but there are no applications from the manufacturer. Of course, there are familiar services from Google and other familiar applications. Since the interface is almost stock, it is simple and clear, it works without unnecessary delays. For ordinary everyday tasks, this is a good phone.

Performance

Inside the Oukitel C17 Pro, a MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763 processor with 8 cores operating at a frequency of up to 2.5 GHz is installed. Helps him with the graphics chip Arm Mali-G71 MP2. This is a budget chipset with not the highest power, but it is enough for ordinary tasks.

There is also 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, which can be increased by an external memory card. The games here are going fine, taking into account the price, and you can play even something more demanding - subject to low graphics settings, of course.

Sound quality

On the underside of the Oukitel C17 Pro is a speaker with a very mediocre sound. However, it is loud, and the ringing of the phone in your pocket can be heard even in noisy places. There is no 3.5 mm jack, so you will have to use a wireless connection or the included adapter for the headphones.

Sound quality is far from ideal, but quite common for a budget smartphone at this price.

Autonomy

The C17 Pro has a non-removable 3900 mAh battery that supports charging via a 10 W adapter. There is no quick charge, but battery autonomy is not bad. The phone is able to work for about 9 hours on the screen, while performing common tasks such as watching videos, games and web surfing. With medium-intensive use of energy, it’s enough for about two days.

Charging through a standard complete device takes 3 hours, which is far from the best indicator.

Conclusion

In general, the budget smartphone Oukitel C17 Pro leaves a good impression, even despite the disadvantages of the lack of a 3.5 mm jack for headphones, weak cameras and long charging. The quality of the display does not compare with the flagships, but for everyday use it is enough. Pleased with the presence of a hole for the front camera instead of a cutout.

If you are looking for a budget phone with an attractive design, the C17 Pro with a price of $ 119 is perfect for this role.
