Xiaomi unleashed their 2020 entry-level stunner last evening (23 March). Via a global online launch, the Chinese appliances maker unveiled the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, updating the popular Redmi Note series which barely got its seat warm in Singapore.
Despite its entry-level tiering, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S packs a host of flagship-tier aspects. The smartphone offers a quad-camera setup at the rear, featuring a 48-megapixel primary lens with 1/2-inch sensor for all-purpose snaps, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The in-display front camera is a first for the Redmi Note series, with a tantalising 16-megapixel lens.
Hardware-wise, folks who choose to pick up a Redmi Note 9S can expect a 6.67-inch Full HD+ (2,040 x 1,080 pixels resolution) DotDisplay, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot and a Z-axis linear vibration motor for more immersive haptic feedback, and a whopping 5,020mAh battery capacity supported by 18W fast-charging (coupled with an in-box charger rated at 22.5W). The phone itself is splash-proof with its nano-coating (not IP-rated), and it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back of the device.
Here’s a statement from Nicolas Shi, Xiaomi Country Manager of Malaysia and Singapore, to Xiaomi fans:
“The Redmi Note series is our most popular smartphone series, and it is not hard to see why. It illustrates our philosophy of innovation perfectly with its amazing performance and honest pricing.
