It is not clear on the add but it actually works on rechargeable battery which makes it perfect to move around and for travels! you can recharge it and use it anywhere without the need to plug it. The two modes are very useful, the slowest one would spray the water slower avoiding to let the surface wet. I am using it at the office with essential oils and it works perfectly. Looks like a mug and take fewer space than most humidifier. Please note that it is more an Aromatherapy than a humidifier, it wont humidify your room, but it is perfect to diffuse a nice perfum
